FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BOULDER, CO May 19, 2005 - Active 1 Self-Defense
announces a new course, "Safe and Secure - Self Defense Skills
for College Life", a class designed to prepare young women entering
or returning to college the necessary skills in independent personal
safety.
"Young women go to college with a high school diplomas and SAT scores under their belts, but are left innocent of the potential dangers of being away from home, practically for the first time," says Monica Hall, founder and President of Active 1 Self-Defense. "As a mother of a teenage daughter, I know the pressures that these young women face, and without the accountability generally felt in the family environment, they may quickly find themselves in peer-pressure or date rape situations. The Active 1 class, "Safe and Secure - Self Defense Skills for College Life", is designed to empower our girls to know not only how they can stand up and protect themselves but also the best methods for staying out of harms way to begin with. It is a gift parent can give to their daughters and their daughter's friends. It is certainly a summer-school course that they will want to take."
In addition to the Safe and Secure program, Active 1 offers the complete course in R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) System. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive women-only course that promotes realistic self-defense tactics and techniques. Awareness, prevention, risk-reduction, and risk-avoidance techniques progress to basics in hands-on defense training. This defense program includes a free lifetime return and practice policy for R.A.D. graduates.
"At Active 1, we understand both the importance in our communities
of educating people on how to avoid becoming victims of domestic
violence as well as caring for those who have already been victimized," adds
Ms. Hall. "As a result of our commitment, ten-percent of
the program cost is donated in the clients name to a women's or children's
shelter of the clients choice."
